[This whole thing is a mess he never wanted to get into at any time of his life, ever. This is also the most domestic he's ever been in his life, ever.]
[The idea couldn't have been thought around, though, and Nanu can acknowledge it's important to have... well, shelter, and a place to live. He would have been just fine with the community housing mentioned in the 'newcomers brochure', or even finding a run-down shack to take up residence in. But with finding Anabel and their concurrent circumstances, his sub-standard needs aren't up to par anymore, and so most of the talking and planning went to Anabel.]
[He'd spent nearly the last decade of his life living in a police station that was already abandoned when he got there, and paying such a low rent for the shitty area it became. He had no plans to move anytime soon. Now, they've been dumped in this world, and as much as Nanu hates having to look for a home, he hates that this place has become home for an indefinite amount of time. That's what bothers him most about this entire idea.]
[Thankfully Anabel takes the brunt of the socializing aspect, and they're equally gifted in scrutinizing rooms for defects or other needs not met. The various landlords react similarly to any other regular person in either of their worlds, finding Nanu to be barely anything more than a walking corpse, and he imagines what they must think of Anabel for coming around with him.]
[The latest assumption by this last woman took the cake, though - Nanu had no chance to correct the older woman when she first addressed them as a couple, and "Mrs. Nanu" made him nearly choke. Anabel's perfectly put-on demeanor certainly didn't help things, either.]
If you think so, Missy. [he says through semi-grit teeth, though with no hostility aimed toward Anabel. She can clearly see the way the landlord's affected him.] Like I've said, I'd be fine in a hole in the ground.
